Brevard Symphony Orchestra Performs with Violin “Olympian” Sirena Huang, BSYO Side-by-Side to Open Concert
(MELBOURNE, FL, October 22, 2025) – The Brevard Symphony Orchestra (BSO) presents both violinist Sirena Huang and the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra (BSYO) back for their second concert of the season, Beethoven, Brahms and the Blue Danube. The concert takes place at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. at the King Center for the Performing Arts on November 15, 2025.
In her upcoming third BSO performance since 2018, Sirena Huang returns after winning the world-renowned Indianapolis International Violin Competition in 2022, also known as the “Olympics of the Violin.” She will perform Beethoven’s thrilling and challenging Violin Concerto with the BSO.
The BSYO also returns for the annual side-by-side with the BSO. As part of the ongoing partnership between the two organizations, professional BSO and student BSYO musicians share a music stand and sit next to each other to play a piece of music side-by-side. This year’s piece is Johann Strauss’ On the Beautiful Blue Danube, a recognizable waltz that has been featured in films like Titanic and 2001: A Space Odyssey and shows like Squid Game. The Side-by-Side performance gives high school musicians valuable experience performing essential repertoire alongside professionals, fostering mentorship and preparing them for advanced musical study.
BSYO Director Rebecca Simons said:
The Side-by-Side Concert is one of our favorite annual traditions, and a shining example of how music unites us as we bring musicians from throughout our community together for one stunning performance. Both the exemplary students from the BSYO and the outstanding professionals of the BSO benefit from each other's experiences as we work together to present the joy of music making to our community. Students of the BSYO are afforded the opportunity to learn from the best as they perform on a professional stage, and the BSO musicians mentor the musicians of tomorrow.
The Brevard Symphony Orchestra is the only fully professional orchestra in Brevard County and is home to many of Central Florida’s finest classical musicians.
